I’m writing a book.  Among other things, it will cover some of what I mention in this blog.  The focus is sharing what I’ve learned about Story and how Story really does guide everything you do.  And how to use Story to drive success.  If my Book Dominatrix keeps whipping me into shape it will be ready to be printed by May or so.

I mention this because writing a book is hard work.  It requires neverending passion to get to that last word.  I suppose if all you do is write books it’s easier, but for many of us writing a book is a secondary task.  It only gets completed if you are driven by passion about the topic and the need to get it written down.

Writing a successful book shares a number of things with running a successful business. There’s always a story…well told, compelling, emotional, satisfying, and energizing.  And then there’s the way the story needs to be told with intensity and passion.  To be told in a way that completely engages the listener and makes it impossible for them withdraw. I mentioned this in a post on September 28: It’s The Story…not the facts.

But it’s not just the story, it’s even more important how the story is told.  And the most important piece of storytelling is passion.  But all too often I find that companies have no passion.  Their stories are dull and boring…or maybe even non-existent.  There is no passion because there’s nothing to get passionate about.  No wonder prospects wander away and customers are lackluster in their support.

It doesn’t matter what you do, be passionate about it.  Strive always to share your passion and instill it others.  Become your business, be your story.

Passion is contagious and draws people in.  It smooths the path for all else and unites everyone in the drive to success.  And just about everyone really would rather spend their time with passionate people.
